Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Have Mullets.

We gave our baby a terrible haircut.  What is wrong with us?  It was beautiful and long and always in his eyes.  It was beautiful.  When we were finished, my brother told me “that baby looks like he’s joining the band Fall Out Boy.”  I don’t even know what that is, but it doesn’t sound good.  So today I chopped it a bit more and it’s better.  But not great.

Does anyone have any tips for cutting boys’ hair?  Or any leads on where to get tips for cutting boys’ hair?  I have one child with curly locks and his hair is a dream to cut (you can’t see my mistakes), but my straight-haired kids seemed doomed to a decade of unintended mullets and mohawks.

Help.

  2. I know what you mean, straight hair has to be cut perfectly. I just gave up and now go to a place called…get this “the grateful head” as in the grateful dead. It’s $13 bucks but well worth avoiding the shame of the weed wacker hair cuts, that usually end up as a buz cut. When I first started out and felt more brave I watched a ton of u tube videos. They might be worth checking out. Either way I think he looks darling.

  3. I’ve always gone with the “bowl” cut. You know just try to cut around in a straight line. I finally decided it was time for my 3-year-old to get a “real” haircut, so I sent him off with his dad one Saturday. (I should qualify that I wasn’t willing to spend more than $15). When my little red-head came home, the back was nicely blended, his neck was trimmed, and his bangs–there were no bangs! He had a monk cut, and one that 6 weeks later still has not grown out. The rest if of his hair is in dire need of a cut, but his forehead is still totally exposed. So I’ve decided I’d rather have a home haircut that is so/so but cheap and easy.
