This afternoon we headed over to Olympus Hills Park. The playground was clean and somewhat enclosed; one side of the playground has a few picnic tables and a fence, and the other side is somewhat open but there is a bench situated for pretty good visibility. My kids wanted to take a stroll in the scrub oak just above (north of) the playground. Twice. Once we all walked (and I carried the baby in my arms), and the second time I wised up and grabbed my double umbrella stroller from the car. The stroller technically made it, but some heftier tires and perhaps even a shock or two would have made for a smoother ride. Next time I go I’ll bring my baby backpack because the distance definitely warrants it, plus it would let me chase my big kids up a great little path to a lookout that they loved. There is a paved path that intersects now and then with the wood chip/dirt path, but that had enough stairs at enough intervals to make the rustic path look better for my stroller.
It was actually a very fun little outing, the playground was nice size and our fifteen minute hike was the perfect length for little legs. My kids felt like they were hiking (with a great view of the Mt. Olympus, the Oquirrhs on the other side, and I-215 zipping along below). Take water for the trail and sunblock/windbreaker for the playground as well. This park can be a little gusty and bright. Enjoy!
